Season 2022/23 - Coaching Team Announcement

Published - 15 April 2022

Aberdeen Grammar Rugby are delighted to announce our new Coaching Team for the 2022/23 season! This restructure brings forth a positive and exciting change for the club as we end a challenging season.

Firstly we would like to introduce Kevin Burnett who will take the place of Gordon Thomson as our new Director of Rugby. With Kevin's experience as AGR's Youth Section Lead, we are excited to have him in this role. AGR would like to give a massive thank you to Gordon for his commitment as the club's Director of Rugby. Gordon will however remain as AGR's Chairman.

Next, we introduce our new Lead Coaches: Greig Ryan and Nat Coe. Both are previous AGR players who have decided to hang up their boots in pursuit of the coaching roles. They take the place of previous Head Coach Ali O'Connor who will now be acting as Senior Attack Coach. We cannot thank Ali enough for his excellent service to the club over the last 6 years.

We are pleased to announce another key development in the club which brings our 2nd XV Lead Coach Craig McLeod into the additional role of Senior Player Development Coach. Craig has been an excellent addition to AGR and we are excited to see where this new role will take the club.

After 8 years Doug Russell will be stepping down as Club Captain with Jack Burnett taking his place. Doug will continue to play for AGR and we would like to thank him for his incredible dedication. Jack has played with the club since junior level and we are glad he is taking on this role.

Iain Stanger will continue offering specialist front row coaching. We are grateful he will continue to bring his expertise to the club.

John Stewart and Neil Palmer are remaining as 1st and 2nd XV Team Managers respectively. Their dedication is second to none and we are excited to have them on board for another year.

Finally, Leah Boudreau will take over as Head Physiotherapist from Keith Raymond. This role is absolutely vital for our club and we would like to thank Keith for bringing his expertise to this role.

All at Aberdeen Grammar Rugby are very excited for the new season ahead and thank everyone for their support in season 2021/22.
