Aberdeen Grammar coach Stuart Corsar believes his team is clicking into gear at just the right time after watching it record a third straight league win in the victory over Watsonians at Rubislaw.
A strong second-half showing from Grammar against the team placed fourth in National 1 settled a hard-fought encounter on a heavy pitch.
Corsar believes momentum is with Grammar as they prepare for a crucial run of matches against the teams pushing for promotion.
He said: “To win three games on the spin is great for us.
Our aim in recent weeks has been to secure our place in the league and we are on course to do that now.
What’s pleasing is we are getting better with every game and we’ve got an important run of matches coming up before Christmas.
We’ve beaten the fourth-placed team in the division and next up we have Stewart’s Melville, who are third in the league, followed by the top two. There’s a good feeling about the club again – and not just at first-team level. With each positive result we look forward to the next game with more confidence.”
The sides were tied 13-13 at the break, with Chad Northcott scoring all of the Watsonians points.
Northcott’s scores cancelled out a try from Murray McCallum, converted by Alex Hagart, Hagart penalty and a Conor Lavery drop goal for Grammar.
Second-half tries from Ali Mackie and captain Morgan Ward, and another conversion from Hagart, secured a crucial victory for the Rubislaw outfit.
Corsar was quick to ail his side’s aggression, which he believes was pivotal in the win over the capital outfit.
He said: “We played exactly as we wanted with a solid 80-minute performance.
“There were a few times when the game could have got away from us, but we stuck to our task and kept going.
“It was a great performance from our forwards to keep us in control and they dominated their pack and that proved decisive.”
