The club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Callum McDonald last week.
Callum joined the club in 1980 after returning from his studies at Edinburgh university. A dynamic and highly fit player, he was a key presence in the back row and went on to captain the team during the 1987–88 season. Among his many contributions on the pitch, Callum scored Grammar’s only try in the 1993 centenary match at Rubislaw against a Scotland select side. He also played a crucial role in the team’s victory at the Highland 7s in the mid-1980s.
Following his playing career, Callum remained a dedicated and valued member of the club, serving for many years on the committee and as match secretary.
His funeral service will be held at the Music Hall on Union Street, Aberdeen, on Tuesday 22 July. Doors open at 1:00pm for a 1:30pm start.
