It is with the deepest regret that we have to inform the Rugby community that one of our Minis coaches, Declan Harnett, passed away peacefully on Boxing Day, surrounded by his family, after falling ill just before Christmas. It is a truly heartbreaking thing to have happened at any time, but particularly over the festive period. Declan was a gentleman, as well as a gentle man, and his sudden passing has shocked and saddened us all.
Declan was a fantastic coach to all the kids in the Mini section of the Club. He brought passion, enthusiasm, encouragement to each training session and game and was hugely respected by both players and coaches alike. More importantly Declan was a proud dad to his children, Erin, Euan and Cian and a loving husband to his wife Claire. His passing has truly saddened us all at the Club and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly difficult time.
Declan's family have set up a JustGiving page where all money will be donated to The Archie Foundation. If you would donate, click here.
