Tighearnán McLoughlin-Roche

Published - 5 February 2026

Aberdeen Grammar is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former player Tighearnán McLoughlin-Roche, who died following a short but courageous battle with illness at the age of 29.

Tighearnán grew up in Ireland and joined the club in the autumn of 2016 while studying at the University of Aberdeen. He went on to graduate in 2022 before relocating to Liverpool, where he began a new chapter of his life and started a family.

Arriving at the club as a fresh-faced blonde, Tighearnán quickly became an extremely popular and much-loved figure among both teammates and the wider club community. Renowned for his tireless work ethic, quick wit, and genuinely caring nature, he represented the club across many fixtures for the senior sides during his time with us.

It is difficult to put into words the profound impact this loss has had on so many of us who were fortunate to know him closely during, and long after, his time in Aberdeen.
