Aberdeen Grammar Rugby is pleased to confirm Iain Macadie as the new Chair of its General Committee.
Iain hails from Newtonmore, where his sporting background was primarily shinty. At high school in Kingussie, a rugby playing PE teacher started a team and when he left school at 18, his was arguably the best school rugby team in the area. Iain was selected for the U18's North Schools squad, training in Aberdeen.
During that time, he played Aberdeen Grammar (school) twice but lost narrowly each time. He then continued to play rugby at Glasgow University along with shinty.
After moving to Aberdeen, Iain joined Aberdeen Grammar Rugby when his oldest son was able to join the minis in 2013-2014. He has been coaching the minis and youth sections ever since, having been with the current U15s since P4.
Iain says, "I chose to join the Committee and stand for Committee Chair because my kids have gained a lot from being part of the Club and I’ve been here for several years now. I hope to continue to contribute to the Club's future in the best way I can."
