The Aberdeen Grammar Rugby assistant coach Aaron Robertson admits that Dumfries Saints played with “speed and accuracy” in their 69-38 away win at Rubislaw.
However, despite defeat, Grammar were pleased to score five tries to pick up a bonus point and believe there is plenty to build on going forward in Arnold Clark National Three.
Aberdeen are currently fourth in the standings and against Dumfries, Ben Renton (2) Josh Ferguson (2) and Craig Shepherd scored tries with Dan McElderry kicking four conversions and a penalty.
“Credit to Dumfries, they showed up on Saturday and attacked with a speed and accuracy that we had not faced yet this season and it resulted in a fast-paced game played in the sun,” Robertson said.
“But credit to ourselves too, we scored five tries against a team who have held their opponents to around two tries a game this season in general.
“We have it in ourselves to score some brilliant tries.
“We are working hard as a group of players and coaches to evolve this season so we will take stock, review our performance both positively and critically and look to improve further going forward.”
