On Saturday, Aberdeen Grammar Rugby got back to winning ways in Arnold Clark National Three with a 34-21 bonus point away win against Strathmore in Forfar.

The Grammar players and coaching staff were frustrated with the way things went in their 37-34 loss at Garnock the week before, but righted some wrongs at Inchmacoble against last year’s National Four champions.

They have now four and lost three to sit third in the 10-team standings after this victory. The visitors were up 22-7 at the break and saw the game out in the second period.

In the first half, Dan McElderry kicked a penalty and then tries came from Fraser Christie, Jack Geddes, and Craig Shepherd with two converted by McElderry.

Cole Crawford and McElderry scored tries in the second half for Grammar with McElderry converting on of them.

“We wanted to right some wrongs after losing to Garnock the week before and we did that with a dominant performance this time out,” Grammar skipper Shepherd said.

“From the first whistle we piled on the pressure in attack and defence and we were clinical when scoring opportunities presented themselves. In the second half we sat on our lead and made sure all the rugby was played in the opposition half which led to a few more scores.”

Strathmore are seventh in the league after this game.
