The Club is holding a pre-match lunch before the Gordonian RFC v Aberdeen Grammar Rugby league game at Countesswells on Saturday 27th January 2024. The lunch will be held at the Great Western Hotel at 11.30 am for noon. A bus will depart the hotel at 1.40pm to Countesswells with transport by bus back to the hotel at full time.
In an exciting development, the Club has been given the opportunity by the MY NAME'5 DODDIE Foundation to raise funds in support of their vital MND research. The Foundation is supported by Alpha Whisky whose fifth release “Alpha Five” celebrates how special the #5 is to the Foundation.
This unique whisky was distilled at the Royal Brackla Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland and has matured for over 12 years. The whisky has been finished in an Oloroso cask and bottled at cask strength of over 55%. The whisky is fantastic, rich with dark fruit flavours and a silky-smooth finish. Only 225 individually numbered bottles have been released and would have a retail price of £96 each.

During the lunch on the 27th January, Peter Mitchell will compere an auction for 1 bottle of Alpha Five as well as entertain with rugby related tales! There are 50 places available on a "first come first served" basis at cost of (minimum donation of) £35 per person to the Club. The price includes lunch, transport and a drink to toast Doddie’5 memory.
Those wishing to bid for this rare whisky but are unable to attend the lunch can submit a silent bid to Gordon Thomson in advance of the auction but it must be sent by email to g.thomson.t21@btinternet.com by 9am on 27th January 2024.
